The Task Force exists to deepen public understanding of immigration and its importance to the region’s economic future by mobilizing Midwestern leadership around the issue. Through dialogue and outreach, its members are working to forge consensus around sensible immigration policy at the state and national levels. The Task Force’s final report articulates the Midwest’s stake in immigration and outlines what the region needs fixed for it to remain economically competitive.

The Group of 500, or G500, is a growing assembly of the region’s business, political, and civic leaders who support the report’s findings and recommendations. The creation of the Group of 500 is a key component of the Task Force’s effort to present the Midwestern perspective for immigration reform to policymakers in Washington, D.C.

The Task Force is a bipartisan group comprised of nine cochairs and forty-five other thought leaders drawn from the business, civic, religious, advocacy, and educational sectors across the Midwest. The Midwest is defined as the twelve-state region that comprises the nation’s traditional industrial core (Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, and Wisconsin) and the Great Plains region (Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota).
